A MEETING POINT OF MONEY AND SPIRITUALITY

17 - 19 January 2020

INVITED BY JUAN ARATA & ELI CORNEJO

WHAT IS MONEY FOR YOU?

In our modern society, money and spirituality come together often.
Spiritual practices become a product; some of them are very expensive. Big business companies are working with spiritual practices like meditation and others.
Even yoga practice has both sides: spirituality and an exercise product.
Or stones. People buy them because of their beauty or energy.
Are the stones spiritual or are they a product? Or are they a spiritual product?
What is art? Is it spiritual? Or a product?
The relationship between money and spirituality is explored during this evening. Dance artist Rocío Marano will show a performance and a video installation. The Monk Seigaku will lead Zen meditation and will share his thoughts about money.
After all those experiences we can think and discuss together about money and spirituality.
WHAT IS SPIRITUALITY FOR YOU?

They pass from hand to hand, the belongings, the tools, the caresses, the electricity, the money.

A video testimony of an aunty is the kickstart for a performance that brings together personal stories of family and friends from the narrative of the hands: the female hand to which are attributed the fetish of luxury objects, the magic hand of the one who heals and prays, the hand of the mother, which becomes essential to the needs of the child, the hands which will be used as a trigger for thoughts and sensations.
